Vinexposium takes Vinexpo Hong Kong to Shenzhen China in 2022

Jan 20: Vinexposium is accelerating its international activities with a spate of events to be rolled out in 2022 across 3 continents, designed to engage with industry buyers, even as it has shifted the venue for Vinexpo Hong Kong to Vinexpo China, according to a Press Release yesterday, with a calendar full of exciting events including two in India. Subhash Arora reports

One of the Pavilions at Wine Paris 2020The world’s leading organiser of wine and spirits events, Vinexposium continues to ramp up its activities in the home market where Wine Paris and Vinexpo Paris takes place next month in Paris on 14-16 February.

It is also pushing its geographical boundaries by establishing a foothold in new key markets by pooling its resources with its partners. The group is repositioning its brands on each of the three continents to connect even more closely with major distribution regions and players through highly focused trade events.

Within a few weeks after Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris- the first major date on the industry wine and spirits calendar, Vinexposium heads off for the United States to hold events catering to the North American market.  On March 9 and 10 Vinexpo America and Drinks America aim to bring together various players of the drinks industry in New York.

It is interesting that the two events will focus separately on wine and spirits, an implicit departure from their erstwhile strategy, Vinexpo America will focus only on wine whereas Drinks America, a new addition to the calendar, will focus on spirits and other alcoholic beverages.

WBWE USA

The group will then head for Santa Rosa, California where the World Bulk Wine Exhibition USA (WBWE USA) hoists its flag for the first time on 8 and 9 June 2022 after over a dozen editions in Amsterdam Europe and a couple of successful expeditions in  Yantai, China. The exhibition focuses exclusively on the bulk wine industry, a segment covering 34% of wine exports by volume worldwide. WBWE returns to Amsterdam on 21- 22 November for the 14th edition.

Vinexpo China

In an interesting turn of events, Vinexposium has decided to break with the past and has decided not to go ahead with Vinexpo Hong Kong in May 2022 but focus instead on Vinexpo China, which takes place for the first time in Shenzhen on 31 October to 2 November. Vinexposium claims to have strategically selected Shenzhen, one of the pivotal cities in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao, a key economic region for southern China.  Shenzhen is barely 40 kms by road from Hong Kong and is easily accessible by bus, taxi, subway or train.

In Shenzhen, Vinexpo China will be co-located with SIAL China, which already has a presence in Shanghai, where Vinexpo China will return for another jointly held event in 2023 with a focus on consumer regions in northern China.

“The synergy between Vinexposium and SIAL was tried and tested last year at Vinexpo India in New Delhi. Our alliance works extremely well in South-East Asia due to quality attendance which covers the complementary segments that are wines, spirits and food products. This offers genuine benefits for our customers who we take to meet new buyers in attractive growth markets”, says Rodolphe Lameyse, CEO of Vinexposium.

Spurred by its first successful experience in New Delhi, which confirmed the enthusiasm of the Indian trade, Vinexpo India continues to spread its wings in India and will launch a second event, co-located with SIAL India in Mumbai from 10 to 12 May 2022 (subject to the safety norms and easing of travel restrictions due to Covid- Indian government announced last evening banning all flights into or out of India till 28 February, thus extending the ban by another month. Rajan Sharma, Director of Inter Ad Exhibitions, the Indian partner of Vinexposium indicated that they are watching the situation very carefully as they want to ensure an in-person event as in Delhi last year).

Vinexpo India will subsequently target the north Indian market again with its 2nd edition in Delhi from 8 to 10 December, thereby rounding off a very international year.

“As its business shows robust recovery and several new events break ground, Vinexposium is resuming its mission of uniting wine and spirits producers and buyers internationally around a series of in-person, strategic events our industry has so sorely lacked”, stresses Christophe Navarre, Chairman of the Board Vinexposium.
