Dec 13: Abrau-Dyurso, a leading producer of sparkling wines in Russia, has announced its plans to collaborate with the Indian beverage company IndoBevs, producer of BroCode; with plans to localize the production of wine beverages in India in the first stage, and with the objective of joint production and distribution of alcoholic products in India, according to Press Reports, writes Subhash Arora
A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in producing alcoholic beverages between Abrau-Dyurso and the Indian company IndoBevs was reportedly signed during President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India last week.
The Russian company envisages implementing projects for joint production and distribution of alcoholic products in India, Abrau-Dyurso press release says, “As part of the first stage of cooperation between the companies, the production of wine beverages based on fruit juice in a ready-to-drink format will be localized in India.”
“IndoBevs is one of India’s leading national producers and possesses unique expertise in the production and sales of alcohol,” Abrau-Dyurso said. Its distributor portfolio in different years has included beverages from Pernod Ricard, Carlsberg, Diageo, William Grant & Sons and Campari. Since 2018 the company has been actively developing its own brands as well.
For Abrau-Dyurso, India is an important market with colossal potential. The memorandum that was signed is a logical and confident step in implementing the company’s international strategy,” according to the press reports.
Owned by Sameer Mahandru who is also the Managing Director of IndoBevs, was founded in 2007 when it became the Distributor for Sula Vineyards and did well for them in promoting their wines. The Distribution arrangement lasted till 2021 during which it expanded its footprints in other alcoholic products including Bro Code.
It is one of the fastest-growing alcohol companies in India, with an annual turnover of around 6 billion Indian rupees (approximately $67 million). It produces and sells 15 proprietary alcoholic beverages, premium whiskey and strong spirits, including flagship BroCode, which is a very popular Indian alcoholic beverage with 15% alcohol. IndoBevs spirit production network includes locations in Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Abrau-Dyurso Group has five production facilities – three in Krasnodar Territory and two in the Rostov region. The company sold 67 million bottles of its various products in 2024, up 18% compared to 2023 while Revenue showed an increase of around 26%.
