Vinexpo Mumbai Wine Show of 3-4 October cancelled-with no explanation
DelWine has been inundated with calls during the last couple of days and questions regarding the Show with their website Vinexpo-India.com still showing the dates of 3-4 October as the dates of the Show- at the time of publishing the Article.
Subhash Arora was upset to receive the first such Call a couple of days ago from one of the friendly importers who said that he had heard from Europe that Vinexpo -India in Mumbai was cancelled or at least postponed. I thought nothing of it, thinking of it as a rumour spread by somebody wanting to damage the reputation of the Show. The website Viexpo-India.com showed the details even today at 3 pm IST. But this call was followed by many calls from people from throughout India till today when I decided to write about it for my global subscribers.
The organisers, InterAds Exhibitors, Indian partners were not available for any comments. But gradually, it became clear from many sources that the Show was not only postponed but cancelled. One person was also able to reach the office of Sonal Holland who had taken over the assignment undertaken by Arora when he quit the Show amicably. The only information available was that it was at least postponed.
Our reliable sources claim the show has been cancelled though reasons are not clear with some even claiming it was Vinexposium who had cancelled the Show. Arora felt it was our moral duty to inform our viewers throughout the world about this disheartening news though he or delWine was not involved in the Show in any way. Marco Farnè, a foreign exhibitor wrote to Subhash earlier today that he was participating in Vinexpo Mumbai, wondering if I would be there and that it would be great to meet me again. He was shocked and disappointed when Arora informed him that the Show was cancelled. While I could not give any reasons, I did assert that it was cancelled.
Marco was truly devastated. ‘Not good, I booked all my flights’, he said, though meekly adding, ‘I checked their website (pic Top Left) and it seems all confirmed.’ There could be many similar cases. The website still shows the old news. The news would be really disturbing for many who have perhaps sent the samples and booked air tickets as Marco did.
A clarification of the reasons will be added as Addendum when available.
The beneficiary of the cancellation will definitely be Prowine Mumbai scheduled for 31 Oct- 1 Nov.
