‘The proposal was simmering over the last few months and after a few meetings it was concluded and post ProWein 2015 Arun and his partner Jackie Matai met Maximilian Josef Riedel, attended a conference and also visited the factory in Austria. Maximillian Josef Riedel is the 11th-generation CEO and President of Riedel, the 250- year old glassware manufacturing company based in Austria.
‘The premium glass range will supplement and complement what we do. It will assist in our endeavour to present our wines with outstanding glassware and continue with the overall cause of presenting wines to the Indian consumer. We will take this forward and use Riedel for various tastings,’ he adds.
Aspri Spirits will commence with a range which includes Sommelier, Restaurant XL, RIEDEL Restaurant, Degustazione, Restaurant “O”, RIEDEL Bar, Coca Cola RIEDEL, Manhattan & Decanters. The mandate is to service on-premise customers (such as restaurants, hotels, bars), Wine & Liquor Stores, Duty Free Shops, Wineries & E-commerce (only Retail Series), according to Kumar.
Aspri's plan moving forward is to conduct comparative tastings that used to be carried out by Sansula when they were exclusively distributing the product in India.
And for all the Coke lovers the company will introduce the COCA COLA + RIEDEL. Inspired by the iconic curves of the original Coca-Cola contour bottle, this glass is designed to enhance the drinking experience and capturing the distinct spices, aroma and taste of Coca- Cola thus creating a magical sensorial experience.
‘We were most impressed with the Riedel Coke glass when it was used to show the difference in the taste of Coke,’ he says. ‘First we thought it was perfect as we were tuned to think it was better but the bubbles and flavour were really enhanced by the glass and it was not a marketing gimmick. We will demonstrate that to our clients at various platforms,’ he adds enthusiastically.
Although the end customer will be the same as their regular channel, the company has hired a senior person to be responsible for sales. Mumbai-based Bharat Deshmukh who has worked in UB as well as with a previous Riedel distributor, is a perfect choice to promote the premium product, he says.
