Wine India Moves: Rukn Luthra shifts to Remi Cointreau

After sipping Seagram’s Nine Hills and the Australian import of Jacobs Creek owned by Pernod Ricard, the company he worked for as the Business Head- Nine Hills, Rukn Luthra seems to have decided it is time to change his  lifestyle and start drinking fine Champagne and Cognac.

Rukn has joined Remi Cointreau India, the newly formed subsidiary of the French conglomerate dealing in fine Champagnes, Cognacs and Cointreau and other fine liqueurs.

The €300m company is much talked about for its exclusive Louis XIII Champagne cognac. A limited edition of 786 numbered carafes in black pearl Baccarat crystal of the Grande Champagne cognac, drawn from a single 100 year old oak barrel, was highly acclaimed and the entire edition was completely sold out.

The new edition of 358 carafes bottled last year in the exceptional format of a magnum is one of the high end products Rukn might help bring to India which is not the only territory under his charge. His canvas includes the neighbouring countries of Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives etc.

Besides the range of Remi Martin Cognacs, Cointreau, Rukn will also help promote Piper- Heidsieck Champagne immediately. This will be followed by Charles-Heidsieck at a later stage. The Indian subsidiary initially plans to stick to the BIO model like LVMH.

No replacement has yet been made reportedly at Seagram’s Nine Hills.
