‘Subhash Arora's passion for wine goes back to over 30 years when he was a teetotaller. He founded the Delhi Wine Club in 2002 to promote wine culture in India through events that include 5-course wine dinners generally with 5 wines. Although the club is impartial to the origin of wines, the Italian wines get more attention because of the ever increasing popularity of the Italian cuisine. The club which was voted as the best wine club of India by the Wine Business International in Germany has organised 138 events for a membership that runs between 160 and 180. The club disseminates wine related information through the first wine webzine, started in 2002,’ reports F & B News.
The report goes on to add the efforts made by Cav. Arora in promoting the wine culture and disseminating information about the wine Industry as President of Indian Wine Academy. ‘Arora also founded Indian Wine Academy in 2003, through which wine consultancy and educational services are offered. DelWine, a newsletter that goes out to over 13000 qualified viewers globally, 6 times a month and has published 291 editions is edited by him. This complimentary India-centric e-Newsletter keeps the subscribers abreast about the wine industry in general with a special emphasis on the Indian wine industry.‘
Writing about the visits to Italy and how he helped the Italian wine industry, it added,’ he frequently visits different regions of Italy for various tastings. He has spoken at seminars, judged competitions and writes voraciously about Italian and other wines. He helps the Italian industry to understand the complicated Indian industry and facilitates the process of exports professionally.’
‘Mr. Subhash Arora is the President of the Delhi Wine Club and of the Indian Wine Academy. In his persistent effort for the promotion of the culture of wine in India, Mr. Arora has dedicated special attention to Italy. An accolade well deserved bestowed on an objective wine Ambassador of the world’, says Yegas Naidoo, a wine connoisseur and an international jurist from South Africa.
Raj Paul of Houston didn’t even know about the award, like most non-Italians. He says, ‘Congratulations & well done - who knew the Italians even had knights! You should have asked them for a case of super tuscans to celebrate the occasion. Regardless, its quite an honor but I must warn you not to expect us to call you 'Sir Subhash'. Raj
Satish Manocha, an IIT engineer who had retired as the MD of ITI Industries has another viewpoint when he says, ‘you deserve many such really world recognitions for a great service (why not Indian award first), that also for a professional and an Industrialist of your calibre. It is a pity that India recognizes a great talent only after another country awards and accepts an achievement of an excellent accomplished Indian first. It happened in many cases, even for Nobel Laureatte Shriman Rabindra Nath Tagoreji, brainiest Mathematician Ramanujam , Scientist Sir C.V. Raman to mention a few. Maybe you can enlighten me on a reason for this wrong thing.’
