IFE-India Guided Tastings: Taste of California

One of the special features at IFE-2008 Food and Wine Shows to be held in Pragati Maidan in December is various Guided Tastings where one can taste and learn about the wine regions as well. Taste of California is one such event to be held where exclusive wines will be on offer, says Subhash Arora

Outstanding wines from Napa, Sonoma County, Santa Cruz, Lodi, Sierra Foothills and Paso Robles will be tasted.

California Wine Institute is taking part in the show and tastings in a big way. Says Eric Pope, Regional Director Emerging Markets at Wine Institute in San Francisco, the California Wines pavilion organizer and moderator of the presentation where 7 producers will showcase a wine from each region,’ All the wines to be presented at the Guided Tastings are unique, top-of-the-line wines from each of the suppliers, and will not be poured at the booths.’

Here are the wines to be tasted:

Wine from California

Region

Clos La Chance Leibeler Vineyard Chardonnay 2005 Santa Cruz
Brazin Old Vine Zinfandel 2006 Lodi
Swanson Alexis 2001 Napa
Kenwood Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 Sonoma County
Ironstone Reserve Cab Franc 2006 Sierra Foothills
Treana "Red" 1999 Paso Robles
Schramsberg Reserve (Sparkling Wine) 1998 Napa

Adds Eric,’ the 2006 Brazin Old Vine Zinfandel is the first-ever release of this new brand.  The 2006 Kenwood Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon is the 30th anniversary release of this famous wine. The 10-yr old Schramsberg Reserve is a real gem of a California sparkling wine. In fact, each of these wines is a special wine of which the producers are very proud of and hope that the participants will love all these wines.’

The Tasting is slated from 12:00 – 01:00 pm on December 3 at the specially created wine tasting auditorium and is open to the wine professionals (hotel and restaurant personnel, importers, distributors, retailers, producers, wine journalists and other related trade people)

If you would like to avail of an excellent opportunity not only to learn about how California has become a leading quality wine producer in the world but also taste their exclusive wines by attending the session on a First-Come First Served basis, please register now.
