Heritage wines that are part of the history and culture of Rajasthan, are not just the lifestyle products one may enjoy in the company of food or friends. The indigenous wines made from fennel seeds, saffron, strawberry, cardamom, roses and oranges are becoming equally popular with the beauty parlour as they seem to give a glowing effect to the skin, says a report in TOI
Beauty experts have been using aromatic heritage wines sourced from wine makers in and around Jaipur to give facials to the clients. "Nothing can beat the glow of heritage wine facials," says a beautician.
"Grape wine rules the roost since it contains polyphenols, a very effective anti-oxidant and resveratrol that fight against free radicals, bacteria and fungi, she adds.
A resident of Jaipur who is now addicted to wine facial done at a city clinic says, "I was quite curious to know how wines can work wonders for the skin. I got it done once and just loved the results. Wine gave an instant glow to the skin and also made my skin look clearer."
Aroma therapist Hitendra Chhabra has researched and found that wine has magical effect on the skin. Now he uses wine made of fennel seeds, saffron, strawberry, cardamom, rose and orange which he sources from Jaipur while he imports grape wine from other countries. (Perhaps he has not heard of Nashik wines or does not realise that the resveratrol qualities found in red grapes are similar and depend on the grape varietal and not origin-editor)
"Saunf (fennel seeds) wine is very effective in treating skin allergy. Kesar (saffron) wine helps in removing pigmentation while orange wine heals sun burns. Wine has a skin penetrating quality and is absorbed easily by the skin," explains beautician Jasvinder Chhabra
Another beautician Sunita Padwa says wines are a blessing for the skin as they come loaded with essential vitamins and anti-oxidants that deep cleanse, tone the skin, improve the texture and also help lift up tan while removing the dead cells. And they smell as exotic as their names and feel great on your skin when applied.
So next time there is a left over Merlot or Shiraz in that opened bottle and you don't know what to do with it except using for cooking, try making a facial pack or skin treatment emulsion with whatever powder-base you are using to make your beauty treatment pack. Good news is that men can also use it-metrosexuals and all!
