Terroir One Dinner: Hearty Valentines Day at Marriott

Terroir One Dinner: Hearty Valentines Day at Marriott

‘No better way to win over your sweetheart than a romantic evening over a glass of good wine’ may be a Valentines Day Cliché for wine lovers but it worked well for the Dinner event organised by Terroir One, Mumbai Chapter of the Delhi Wine Club at the Courtyard Marriott where the members enjoyed the evening with their partners, holding a glass of Reveilo in their hands, writes Club President Bindu Malhotra

Red Zen- the Pan Asian Restaurant at the Courtyard Marriott was a perfect venue to start the evening-red being the colour of love. February the 14th saw about 60 members of Terroir One attending the second event of the year and enjoying the perfect cuisine and wine at an enchanting evening.

Under the keen eye of Mr Elton, the Director of Operations and his efficient F & B team the food menu was well crafted to match or enjoy with the premium wines from the Nashik producer Vintage Wines which makes the Reveilo label wines.

The Reveilo Chenin Blanc matched perfectly with stir fried chicken, tempura prawns, stir fried vegetables and garlic tossed mushrooms. The crisp and refreshing flavours made it an ideal Valentine Day date with the aperitifs.

Members later shifted to the open air poolside garden where lots of entertainment, games and live performance by a Brazilian singer serenaded them.

The Syrah matched well with the spicy and tangy Thai speed that was perfectly laid at a large buffet. The guests had a choice of picking out their own wines to taste. The Grillo introduced last year and made from the Sicilian white grape varietal was a hit with most of the sixty members. The red Sicilian varietal Nero d’Avola is a young wine with a long aftertaste was pleasant on the palate with the chicken and fish Satay as well as the vegetarian snacks cooked at a live counter.

The Late Harvest Chenin Blanc was served with the lavish Thai and western desserts but was not quite appreciated as most guests found it too sweet.

Yatin Patil, the young and dynamic owner of Reveilo wines accompanied by the Italian Winemaker Andrea Valentinuzzi were at hand to answer queries pertaining to the wines, while the host of the evening Imam kept everyone engaged with his witty humour and Games, adds Rojita Padhy, the well known journalist, editor and a member of the Club.

Valentinuzzi had flown in especially for the event from Italy, said Patil in an informal chat. The winemaker might use the opportunity to look at the current harvest at their Niphad vineyards and the winery as well! He conducted a brief wine session and gave away Reveilo wine hampers as gifts. He is so soft-spoken that not many persons could hear him, felt Rojita. But the wines certainly spoke for themselves.

The chef and the waiting staff at the Courtyard Marriott did a fabulous job- enough for many members to exclaim, ‘when do we come back for another wine dinner?’
