Indage Acquires Third Australian Winery

India's oldest, pioneering wine company, Champagne Indage has acquired another Australian winery; the Barossa based VineCrest is being acquired through its foreign subsidiary, in order to help it to base operations in the premium wine region.

"The acquisition of VineCrest is yet another strategic step towards expanding our global portfolio of iconic brands," said Champagne Indage Managing Director Ranjit Chougule.

VinCrest is a fine Barossa wine producer known for its Shiraz, Semillon, Semillon- Sauvignon and even Merlot which is not easily produced in India.

The company has not announced the amount spent for the acquisition.

Earlier, as  reported in delWine, it had acquired Thachi wines last year and Loxton Australian wineries a couple of months ago, subject to due diligance. It further plans to acquire wineries in South Africa and UK.In fact. it has just acquired the consolidated assets of UK based Darlington Wines, an importer whose business is fully backward and forward integrated for wine imports under own labels to bottling, warehousing and distribution enabling it to sell Indage's own brands from the 3 Australian wineries.

Exhibiting at London Wine Fair

The company plans to showcase products from Thachi and Loxton at the London Wine Show to be held from 20-22 May at the Excel Center. Some of the other  labels to be showcased are Marquise De Pompadour (MDP), Tiger Hill, Indage Reserve, Chantilly, Riviera, Ivy and the internationally renowned, Omar Khayyam.

Says Ranjit Chougule, Managing Director of Champagne Indage Ltd, 'We are looking forward to the LIWF as it will provide us with a global platform to help us position India as one of the prominent wine producing countries on the global map"

CIL today produces white, red, sparkling and rosé wines of several varieties and has nearly 36 labels in its portfolio
