Suncity to Bring Jewel of India

Cashing in on the exploding mall culture in India, the realty player Suncity Projects announced on Saturday its plans to develop four retail cities, naming them  'Jewel of India' in the country with an investment of around Rs 20 billion, by 2011.

The malls would come up at Greater Noida, Indore, Jaipur and Mohali. Further, 6 more malls will be opened with an additional investment of Rs. 60 billion ($1.4 billion)

The first of these cities would become operational in Jaipur by 2011 and would be spread over an area of 4 million square feet. It would house premium retail brands like Lifestyle, Shoppers' Stop, Pantaloon and Westside. It will also include Johari Bazar showcasing traditional Rajasthani jewellery. Beside retail area, hotels, offices and entertainment zones will also be included.

"This is one of the most ambitious projects in the retail space. 'Jewel of India' will house some of the most prominent brands of the country along with local handicraft of the region and will redefine the entertainment criteria for the customer" says Suncity Projects VP (Retail) Vijay Arora explaining the profile of the tenants.

Suncity Projects Pvt Ltd, is a well established realtor and developer, focussing on the urban real estate projects ranging from townships to group housing, luxury apartments, shopping malls and office complexes. It is an amalgamation of three of India's business conglomerates: the Essel Group, the Action Group and the Odeon Builders.
