Taste of India at London Wine Fair

Mumbai based Globus Wines, makers of Miazma label plan to showcase their range of five wines at the London Wine Fair next month with the labels distinctly designed by a leading design agency in London for the export market.

Says Karan Jain, CEO of Globus, 'Miazma is the first ever Indian brand to showcase wines at this level in U.K. We are committed to taking the Indian wine industry forward and believe such bold steps will help not just our brand but also other wines coming out of India.'

'The brand is being placed at the premium end of U.K wine market and will be available from 20th May, the day the 3-day Fair opens in UK,' adds Karan. The brand is slated to retail between £10 and 13.5, while the restaurants will market them for around £30 a bottle.

Miazma wines were launched in the domestic market over a year ago in Maharashtra which is their current market. Says Karan,' We produced 12,000 cases and plan to take it up to 15000 cases this year'. Made from grapes in Sangli district, the wines are said to be crafted for the spicy Indian food.

Meanwhile, Globus has taken over managing Haiko Supermarket's liquor category and entered into an agreement with the developers, Hiranandani Constructions, to open further such exclusive high-end wine stores at their locations across India. It already manages a store in Star Bazaar in Dahisar, Mumbai.

Since the liberalization of licenses in Maharashtra for wines and beer, Haiko was the first supermarket to opt for retailing. The new licenses called FL BR II does not allow retailer to sell any other types of liquor
