Wine India Moves: Sula appoints Nick Pringle from UK as COO

June 21: Sula Vineyards, the leading wine company in India has pulled off a strategic coup of sorts as it announces the appointment of Nick Pringle, former Head of Accolade in China, as the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective immediately and who will work closely with Rajeev Samant while overlooking the company’s strategy and operations

Nick Pringle is not new to the Indian wine lovers. He has been visiting India regularly as the Commercial Director for Accolade Wines whose Hardys label he had been promoted in India including at the SulaFest, since he joined Accolade in 2011 to promote Hardys. He had not been seen in India for the last one year during which he had been assigned the role of heading Accolade operations in China. He has over 20 years of experience in the wine and spirits industry and has worked extensively in international markets to create a significant category across emerging markets for wine and spirits consumption.

Rajeev Samant, founder and CEO of Sula is very excited about Pringle joining Sula, with whom he has interacted several times in the past both in India and overseas. He says, “I am delighted that Nick is joining us as our COO. He brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at Accolade Wines and AB InBev and is the right person to help steer Sula Vineyards, one of Asia’s fastest growing wine companies, to even greater heights.”

Nick strongly believes that numerous opportunities lie in the Indian wine industry when he says,“India is a very young and dynamic market. It has immense potential to grow in the wine sector and the enthusiasm, with great people that Sula possesses, is infectious. Despite barriers, Sula entered the wine industry here in India and carved a niche for itself as both, the best and leading wine company. Sula recognized the changing industry trends and launched Sula Selections and Artisan Spirits to diversify itself, becoming a genuine front runner in the industry. I am proud to be associated with a brand that has turned things around for the industry altogether and look forward to creating more milestones for us to achieve together.”

Many Indians remember him promoting Hardys at the SulaFest for a couple of years while Indian Wine Academy had the pleasure of conducting a guided wine tasting session with him at the prestigious Delhi Golf Club in 2014. Many others have known of Nick as a cricketer. He was a professional cricketer and played for Somerset, from 1986 to 1991. Besides promoting Brand Sula he might even promote fitness among Sula employees – Nick is a fitness enthusiast besides his love for music and travelling.

Indian Wine Academy and delWine welcome Nick Pringle to India and wish him a successful assignment as the Chief Operating Officer of Sula.
