 According to a Press Statement on the eve of Vinexpo Hong Kong by Messe Düsseldorf who have been organising possibly the most important wine and spirits show ProWein globally, the success of the maiden edition of ProWine Asia held in Singapore on April 12-15 was an important factor, as was the success of the earlier ProWine China started in 2013.
Hong Kong Trade Development Council was the first to take the initiative after taxes were removed from wine, and start the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair (HKIWSF) in 2008. This is the only trade fair which is held annually. Vinexpo Hong Kong is held in May/June every alternate-‘even’ year. With ProWine Asia debuting in Hong Kong next year, the city will have at least two internationally prominent wine shows every year.
Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is the central location that will continue to be the venue for all these wine shows. Next wine Show will be HKIWSF in November 10-12 at the same venue.
ProWine Asia Hong Kong will debut from 8 – 11 May 2017 while Singapore will be the venue again from 24 – 27 April 2018.
Like in Shanghai and Singapore, ProWine Asia in Hong Kong will run in parallel with a leading food fair-HOFEX. The contractual partners are Messe Düsseldorf China Ltd. and Hong Kong Exhibition Services Ltd. (HKES), a member of the international Allworld Exhibitions Network. HOFEX in Hong Kong is the most important trade fair for food and drinks in the region, celebrating its 30th anniversary.
The wine segment “Wine&Spirits@Hofex” will now be merged into ProWine Asia at the Hong Kong location and will be further developed with the help, experience and know-how of Messe Düsseldorf.
ProWine Asia in Singapore predominantly addresses the South East Asian markets. ProWine Asia in Hong Kong will be directed towards the local market as well as Asian markets like Macao, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.
ProWine Asia in Hong Kong will also be only a B2B trade show like in Singapore and ProWine China in Shanghai. The first edition of ProWine Asia in Hong Kong will be held from 8 to 11 May 2017 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre-the same venue as for Hong Kong International Trade Show and Vinexpo being currently held from 24-26 May.

The Indian wine importers and other wine professionals will have more options and opportunities to expand their base or meet their existing suppliers at any or all of these Shows.
