Not only has the retail price been kept low at Rs. 425, it is commendable that the alcohol content of both the wines shows a commendably low12% on the bottle.
Both the wines have been made from single vineyard- varietals with only 3500 cases of Chenin and 2000 cases of Shiraz being made in the first year, says Aman Dhall, owner of Brindco which is a minority partner in Grover and looks after the wine marketing and distribution.
It will be available within a month in Delhi also, for a price of around Rs. 450, similar to its Sauvignon Blanc already available, confirms Aman Dhall.
Both the wines are screw-capped. ‘Apart from La Reserve, we have completely switched to screw-caps now,’ confirmed Aman to delWine.
The labels are very contemporary and impressive-one hopes that the wine is as impressive as well. The Art Collection Chenin Blanc showcases the in-depth colours of Sanjay Bhattacharya while the Shiraz carries a painting by another internationally acclaimed artist, Paresh Maity. The painting is deep, clear and vivid. Backdrop at the bottom of each label indicates whether the wine is white (off-white) or red (dark black).
The 26 –year old GV already has La Reserve, Cab-Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier Clairette and Shiraz Rose in its portfolio. Grover produced about 100,000 cases last year and hopes to maintain its annual growth of 25% this year too. The company maintained its growth last year, despite recession, says Kapil Grover who heads the company.
‘We have no more varietal expansion planned in the near future, says Kapil. ‘Grover is a quality producer and we would like to focus on producing better quality every year rather than bringing multiple brands with secondary attention on quality,’ he adds. |
