Aeroports de Paris, owner of the French capital's Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, said a Chinese passenger last week spent a record € 46,423 (Rs. 3.15 million) buying wine on Christmas Eve.
The passenger, bound for Beijing from Charles de Gaulle Airport, included among his purchases, a Cote du Rhone, La Tache from 1991 and several bottles from the Bordeaux region, including a Lafite Rothschild of 1947 vintage (the year India gained independence from the British) and a Chateau Latour from 1976, the airport owner has reportedly said in an e-mailed statement.
The previous record was set March 20, 2007, when another Chinese passenger spent 23,300 euros on French wines. |
