It is a Shiraz and will be produced by Wente Vineyards in Livermore, California according to a report in Brandweek and is a blend of 75 percent Livermore Valley Shiraz , 15 percent Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and 10 percent Livermore Valley Golf Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. According to the report Sorenstam and winemaker Karl Wente collaborated on picking the grapes on the Northern California estate.
“I was drawn to Wente Vineyards because we share the same passions: fine wine, fine dining and championship golf. I really enjoyed the blending process. I am very excited about our end product,” says Annika in a release.
Wente is releasing only 611 cases of the ANNIKA wine, packaged in 750 ml bottles. Suggested retail price is $75 per bottle and the bottle will be available at retailers or online. The Tasting Notes indicate ‘aromas of wild blackberry, plum and strawberry, which continue with chocolate and coffee flavours from the barrel.”
Annika has been a winner of 90 international golf tournaments, including 10 majors and 72 official LPGA tournaments, Sorenstam’s other business ventures include a golf academy in Florida, golf course design projects and a signature apparel collection which also is called Annika.
She is also introducing a fragrance through SA Fragrances in Boston, which is marketing the new Annika eau de parfum, and is targeting a wide variety of women with the product.
With cricket being the most popular sport in India, it is more likely that we may soon find a Tendulkar Tempranillo, Kapil Cabernet or Saurav Sauvignon Blanc or a Kumble Cab-Shiraz bottled by Sula, Indage or Grover. |
