Drink Wine for Charity and Nirvana

Bodhichitta is Oregon’s first non-profit winery which is being launched in the afternoon of April 18 in Salem with the objective of service before self and the connection amongst all sentient beings, emphasizing hand-crafted, home-made wines using local, natural and whenever possible, organic ingredients

Bodhichitta (pronounced “bodda-cheetah”) is a Sanskrit word meaning inner self or soul.  The word and concept has been used to describe the basic human wisdom within each of us that can drive away the sorrows of the world.

Bodhi means free from the ordinary, confused mind, free from the illusion that we are separate from one another.  Chitta means "heart" or “mind."  According to the Buddha, the unbiased mind and good heart of bodhi hold the key to happiness.

Bodhichitta Winery is a vision to embody that spirit in each feeling, thought and action in our daily lives to bring compassion, equanimity, joy and kindness to our world -- to ease or eliminate suffering and pain.

It donates to worthy charities at the local, regional, national and international level and has recently donated the profits of $12,000 for an overseas school.

Bodhisattva Wine Club

A bodhisattva is an enlightened being, who, out of compassion, forgoes nirvana in order to save others.  He or she is in touch with his/her bodhichitta and attempts to connect with others.

With this Sanskrit meaning in mind, the winery has launched a wine club named Bodhisattva Wine Club.  As a bodhisattva, one is entitled to 10% discount on the wine club shipments, both for wine and aromatherapy products it also crafts.

The winery conscientiously plans not to contribute to Global Warming and Climate Change by remaining carbon neutral through offsets and minimizing the greenhouse gas emissions by re-using old wine bottles, working by hand and using solar to power their buildings and equipment.

The winery aims to bring healing and ease suffering in this world through the creation and experience of fine, hand-crafted wines and lavender aromatherapy products.

For details of wines being produced by this small scale winery, visit their website.
