Dr. Schuller is the first "non-British" Chairman of the Institute’s 56-year history. He is also the managing director of the Austrian Wine Academy established in Rust in 1991. In 1998, Schuller became the first Austrian Master of Winefrom Austria.
The London-based international Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW), has announced the addition of 8 persons joining the band, on passing the exams- all are from Europe.
The Master of Wine qualification requires a comprehensive knowledge of the international wine trade, which includes sales, distribution and marketing, as well as an extensive knowledge of the wines of the world.
Here is the list of new Masters of Wine, each of whom is entitled to write MW after their name
· Susie Barrie (UK) - freelance journalist, author, television and radio presenter from Winchester
· Michael Collier (UK) Surrey based wine consultant.
· Roman Horvath (Austria) MD Domäne Wachau in Durnstein, Wachau
· Isabelle Legeron (France) event organiser and TV broadcaster; lives in London
· Tim Marson (UK)-wine buyer for Bibendum in London
· Tuomas Meriluoto (Finland)- MD of importing firm WineState
· Frank Roeder (Germany) founder CEO of VIT, a wine distribution company in Saar (Mosel)
· Mai Tjemsland (Norway) owns GastroConsult, a restaurant, catering and wine club group in Oslo
There is no MW from India yet although a select few are chasing the dream and hopefully soon someone will join the coveted group. Jeannie Cho Lee from Hong Kong is the only Asian to have joined the ranks; she passed her exams last year. |
