IFDE-India 2009 to substitute IFE-India

The ink on the dissolution deed between Montgomery and InterAds , the JV partners of the erstwhile Montgomery Interads, organiser of IFE-India has not yet completely dried as another UK company has announced its plans to fill the vacuum with a similar food and wine show at the same venue and dates, reports Subhash Arora

There has been some speculation in the wine trade that the vacuum created by the premier show IFE-India, lasting 5 vintages, might be filled by the earlier leader IFOWS or the new infant on the block, IITF which made the maiden appearance last month in Mumbai. But the London- based Tarsus Group; an international organiser of similar exhibitions has announced the launch of the International Food & Drink Expo India, IFDE-India 2009.

Disclosing details to delWine on phone, Lauren Morrey, Project Manager for the Show, informed that it would be held from 2-4 December 2009 at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. The dates and venue are exactly the same, igiving rise to speculation  that the new company was waiting for the agreement dissolution to take effect and took over the dates and the venue to avoid any gap.

Montgomery and InterAds are bound by the contract not to have IFE-India for 2 years.

‘We are focussed on providing a platform for both international and local suppliers, to showcase their products and innovations directly to India’s food, drink, hospitality and retail professionals. The event will act as a high profile launch pad for those taking their first steps into the market place, and will also offer more established companies the opportunity to enhance their existing profile and brand penetration,’ Lauren Morrey said.

“I am excited about the opportunities India has to offer worldwide food and beverage Producers,” added Lauren who used to be the Project Manager for IFE-India earlier.

She expects the website www.indiafooddrinkexpo.com to be ready during the next few days.

This announcement does not clarify the status of India Wine Challenge which has been linked with IFE-India. Robert Joseph, the Chairman has been quite optimistic and has informed delWine that he is hopeful it will take place this year. However, Ms. Morrey could not throw any light on the subject.

It has also not been disclosed if any of the erstwhile JV partners would be a part of the new Show.
