The colossal bottle was recently on display in the Swiss
town of Rehetobel, about 40 kms from Lake Constance, in November 2007.
There are many wine connoisseurs in the world, but their love for wine
motivating them to manufacture the largest bottle in the world is a different,
unique story.
The picture shows the 490-liter Grande Cuvee TBA NV No.7 2005 of Austrian
wine maker Kracher being viewed by a visitor during its presentation.
At 6 glasses a bottle, the 653+ bottles translate into over 3700 glasses.
If consumed at the healthy rate of 2 glasses at a wedding, it would be
sufficient for over 1850 guests!
On a sad note, Alois Kracher Jr. the winemaker who designed the bottle,
died on 4th of this month due to cancer at the young age of 48. He was
an advocate and a visionary winemaker whose luscious sweet wines and forceful
personality were instrumental in restoring the Austrian international
reputation after the 1985 scandal that rocked the Austrian wine industry.
