"Choice, with its objective to capitalize on the
exponentially growing Indian market, is planning fresh tie-ups with various
investors to add as many as 2,000 rooms across the country over the next
two years. We are already in talks with nearly 20 promoters to franchise
our hotel brands," says Vilas Pawar, CEO of Choice Hotels India.
He said the company is also planning to introduce a new all-suite hotel
format in India and first such property, targeted at NRI visitors, is
expected to come up in Ludhiana, Punjab by the end of next year.
"India has not seen an all-suite hotel format so far. We would be
introducing this format under the Clarion brand in Ludhiana and would
look at taking it to other cities in the near future," he added.
Clarion Ludhiana would have 120 suites and would entail an investment
of Rs1.50b. The company has tied up with a Vancouver-based NRI for the
project.
The proposed facilities are expected to come up in various metros, tier
I and II towns over the next two years. It globally owns brands like Clarion,
Comfort Inn, Quality Inn and Sleep Inn, says the report.
CHI already has a tie-up with Royal Indian Raj International Corporation
to set up 15,000 budget hotel rooms on a pan-India basis.
As part of the agreement, Royal Raj would invest nearly $4 billion over
the next five years and CHI would franchise and manage its four brands.
