Is it your first job where you are working so passionately about wine?
I consider myself an Ambassador of wines for India and am always thinking of ways to promote them. When I joined Grand Hyatt in 1999 on my return to India , my assignment was to open Brix, which opened in the summer of 2001 when Stefan Foucher was the chef-de cuisine.
I used to buy all our wines from Sansula- I remember Brindco was not even born. My first order of wines was for Rs. 65 lakhs. That was the time when Magandeep used to work for Sansula and used to come to me for orders.
I was also instrumental in opening La Cave, the basement cellar, which used to be an engineering store at that time. I designed each detail including the size and location of each shelf. So, I have been involved in wine from day one. Wine has been my passion. I have visited over 30-40 vineyards. But I don't like to talk about its and generally like to stay low key in that area.
And achieve your career goal of….?
I want to be like Ronnie Lobo. I am sure with my super boss, Mr. Abhijit Mukherji, I will be able to achieve it.
Good luck from delWine and Indian Wine Academy , Rajesh.
