Pretty Woman Scene Tops Movies in Hotels Poll

Julia Roberts's bath with Richard Gere in Pretty Woman has been voted the best movie scene based in a hotel in a poll conducted by Travelodge among more than 3,000 film buffs. The romantic encounter between Gere's tycoon and Roberts's warm-hearted prostitute topped the poll, fighting off competition from Psycho and Ghostbusters .

Their spokesman Wayne Munnelly welcomed the result.

"There have been many great movie scenes in hotels throughout the years," Travelodge spokesman Wayne Munnelly is quoted by www.ehotelier.com as saying. " Pretty Woman is a great choice. The whole film is set in a hotel and we would all love to indulge in the hotel highlife like Julia Roberts's character does."

Psycho 's grim shower murder scene managed second place, however, and The Shining 's meeting of the murdered twins came third.

The seven scenes that followed in the Top Ten list:

Beverly Hills Cop : Eddie Murphy chatting his way upstairs.

Indecent Proposal : Woody Harrelson and Demi Moore's sex scene on a $1m bed.

Thelma and Louise : Brad Pitt and Geena Davis's sex scene.

Ghostbusters : Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis trashing the dining room.

The Godfather : Al Pacino told of Don Corleone's shooting.

Trainspotting : Ewan McGregor begins his runaway with a bag of cash.

Pulp Fiction : Bruce Willis's conversation about his girlfriend's "pot belly".
