The Academy Award winning wine related film, SIDEWAYS, has spun off an actual wine bar opening late January in Santa Barbara County , reports winebusiness.com. Called Tastes of the Valleys, a SIDEWAYS wine bar, this new Solvang based spot will begin by featuring wines from 15 Central Coast producers, pouring over 55 wines.
"After the success of the movie, we were looking to do something," said Dave Chambers, Wine Merchant and Partner in Tastes of the Valleys, a SIDEWAYS wine bar. "The film had done so much for the Central Coast , not just for Pinot Noir itself, but for Pinots all over the Central Coast." Chambers and partners approached Fox Studios in Hollywood and licensed the name, SIDEWAYS, first for an official wine club, then for this brick and mortar tasting facility.
Besides being a designated tasting room for Central Coast favorite wines it will carry various Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and various Rhone varietals. Tastes of the Valleys will primarily present wines from Santa Barbara County , but will highlight some from as far north as Paso Robles and south to Santa Rita Hills . "Our average price per bottle will be $35," said tasting room manager, Bobby Moy.
Tastes of the Valleys will offer visitors weekly specials and flights plus many seasonal pours. A Valentine's Day promotion is coming up soon. "Our objective is to focus on education, and offering extensive wine classes that help visitors discover the wines of the central coast," said Chambers.
