Bill Allows customers to cork and carry their wine bottle

Delhi is not the only place where the law does not permit carrying the open bottle outside the premises. Many states in the US do not allow carrying out of the unfinished bottle. Of course,  the reasons are to discourage people drinking in the car while driving; it does not appear that the motivation is similar in this part of the world.

However, the things are changing, at least in some parts of the US . A Bismarck (in the state of North Dakota )representative wants to let restaurant patrons drink their wine and keep it, too. House Bill 1041, drafted by Rep. David Weiler, R-Bismarck, and Bette Grande, R-Fargo, would allow some restaurants to cork up patrons' unfinished bottles of wine to take home, according to a report published by Bismarck Tribune, USA .
Thirty-four other states have legislation pending or have passed cork and carry laws, said Weiler. Some states call them Merlot-to-go laws. Other states allow wine doggy bags, where wine is sealed in a bag provided by the restaurant.
