The UB group is gearing up to make its Four Seasons as India 's largest winery, reports Financial Express. The company also plans to produce sparkling wines with the technology it acquired through its purchase of the French winery.
The company has set in motion the process to acquire 130 acres of land in Baramati. An additional 200 acres adjacent to this land will come from local partners. Grape vines will be planted in the 300 acres and the winery will be located at the centre. The 300 acres will be cultivated in two years, adds the report . Negotiations for purchase of another 200 acres are on.
In addition, the company will enter into contractual agreements with farmers for 700-800 acres for sourcing grapes. The production capacities will grow after the contracts are in place. The company has already entered into contractual agreements for 150 acres in Baramati.
