UB Group, which is eyeing the private label business of Whyte & Mackay, is in talks with the group to sign a bulk supply agreement and also for franchising some of the brands from its mainline business, reports Business Standard.
"Apart from submitting a bid for Invergordon, one of the Scotch distilleries of Whyte & Mackay, the Indian group expects at least to secure a distribution and licensing deal with the UK firm," sources close to the development told the pink daily.
Whyte & Mackay Chairman and Chief Executive Vivian Imerman, however, denied the reports that UB has bought the company for 400 million pounds sterling. UB sources were not available for comments.
