The buoyancy of Burgundy wine exports has continued during the first half of the year, according to figures from the trade body, BIVB, reports www.just-drinks.com.
Global exports increased 12% in volume and 11% in value on the year, with each of the major markets for Burgundy wines contributing to growth.
Exports to the US were up 22% in volume and 19% in value; there was double-digit growth in shipments to Canada and Japan. Emerging markets including Denmark, Sweden, and Ireland also performed well. BIVB said exports to the UK, the biggest market for Burgundy in volume terms, rose by 4% and only by 1% in value.
