Trade body Federaçion Espanola del Vino (FEV) said the country’s wine consumption in the period slid by 3.5% year-on-year to 531 million litres. The fall was due primarily to a 7.3% dip in wine consumption in the catering and hotel sector.
Despite the overall fall, Spanish households increased the amount of wine they consumed went up by 12.5% in value to 421 million euros and 2% in volume to 230 million litres.
