India will be the theme of this year's Frankfurt Book Fair, Mecca of the world's publishing industry, and Habib Rehman will be there to give the world a taste of India.
Rehman, who heads the hotels and food divisions of ITC, a leading Indian cigarette and FMCG company, will showcase his pioneering work in giving India's centuries-old food tradition its pride of place.
The profusely illustrated coffee-table volume will present the recipes of Bukhara, the premier North Indian restaurant at the ITC Maurya Sheraton, whose big fans include Russian President Vladimir Putin, Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea, his neighbour, Wine Enthusiast Publisher Adam Strum, and fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger.
The brilliantly illustrated book is being printed in Singapore and published by Pramod Kapoor, the gourmet owner of Roli Books.
Apart from sharing the recipes, for the first time in the restaurant's 28-year history, this collector's item will trace the incredible history of India's food tradition.
The book's Frankfurt release will be accompanied by a food extravaganza being sponsored by the ITC Hotels. The festival, which will present Indian cuisine in all its diversity, is being sponsored by the company's corporate executive chef, Manjit Gill.
