Jess Jackson announced on Thursday that Jackson Family Wines has signed an agreement to acquire all the issued and outstanding capital stock of Murphy-Goode Estate Winery in the heart of the Sonoma County 's Alexander Valley for an undisclosed sum. The Murphy family will retain their vineyard holdings.
The Murphy-Goode Winery has been making high quality Fumé Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon since Tim Murphy, Dale Goode and Dave Ready founded their three-family partnership in 1985, reports www.winebusiness.com . Murphy-Goode was launched with two wines. Spurred by the partners' enthusiasm and market demand, the winery steadily increased production with fruit from local farmers and neighbours. Its Reserve Fumé Blanc, Reserve Island Block Chardonnay, and Liar's Dice and Snake Eyes Zinfandel are considered by many wine authorities as great examples of Alexander Valley wine-making style and the appellation's terroir.
