Eighty-five percent of all management-level personnel across hotel chains in India aren't happy with their working conditions and are waiting for the right opportunity to move out, HVS International's Director (Executive Search) Natwar Nagar has said.
Quoting placement consultants, The Economic Times reports hospitality professionals are turning out to be the first choice for industries that require people to possess strong soft skills. They're in demand in sectors like BPO, banking, telecom, insurance, personal finance and now in the growing retail sector as well.
"Hospitality professionals are customer-centric, patient, presentable and hardworking. In short, they are so well-trained and groomed that any sector is ready to take advantage of these skills," COO, Ma Foi Management Consultants, E. Balaji, told the pink paper.
A survey by Ma Foi reports that the migration from hospitality to other sectors is 17%. Bottomline: The hospitality industry doesn't value trained professionals, who are being snapped up by the emerging sectors of the economy.
