IFE-India 2007 opens on December 6

The 5th edition of International Food, Drink and Hospitality Exhibition opens next Thursday at Pragati Maidan. The 3-day Show promises to be bigger than ever in terms of space, number of exhibitors and the countries participating.

The show will be inaugurated at 11.00 on 6th December in Hall 7H with some high profile VIP's, Ambassadors, Trade Commissioners and key speakers from the Industry present, according to the organizers-Interads Montgomery (India) Pvt. Ltd.

A record 250 Exhibitors are expected to present their food and wine products and hospitality equipment from more than 20 different countries, including 13 leading international associations. The area of display will see an increase of 60% at 2500sqm compared to 1500sqm taken up by 160 exhibitors from 16 countries last year.

The highlight of the show is the growth in wine company exhibitors this year. Compared to only 20 companies last year, over 60 have confirmed to participate.

Indian Wine Academy Live Tasting Theatre

For the first time at IFE India, the visitors will be able to do live tastings guided by the producers and winemakers or their reps. A specially designated area within the hall will make it possible for the visitors to taste these wines.

In these Guided Wine Tastings you will be taken through different wines, learning of the grapes, the region and many interesting aspects of the wines being tasted. This programme has been organised in conjunction with Indian Wine Academy which will moderate through one of its panelists. There will be six 1-hour sessions of guided tastings from Italy, France, and Spain etc.

What is Sherry? What do Fino, Amontillado and oloroso signify on the bottle? What on earth does Bristol Cream mean, or Dry Sack? Is Fino a dry sherry? Should you have sherry with foods? What temperature should you store your sherries at? For the first time ever the tastings will answer all such questions and remove doubts while tasting a variety of ‘Sherries from Spain’(a misnomer introduced intentially here- Sherry is always from Jerez in Spain, and two other cities around it- no other region or country produce sherry. A highly educative session, that.

Walk the World of Wine

Only a limited number of visitors who pre-register early enough may be able to taste some of the better wines in the guided tastings. But they will be welcome to taste wines at the individual stalls this year as the due permission has been granted by the excise department. They can taste wines from wines from countries including Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, England, India, Greece and Australia. ICE (Italy), FIAB (Spain), Austrade (Australia), CMA (Germany), Sopexa (France) will be a few of the 13 associations presenting products from their countries/regions.

India Wine Challenge

The result of the first ever India Wine Challenge will be announced at the IFE India. About 300 wines have been entered in the competition. The Great Gold, Gold Silver and Seal of approval would have been given to about 30% of the wines entered. Some of the award winning wines, if available with the exhibitors will be showcased.

If you are a hotelier, restaurateur, wine importer or intending to be one, producer or consultant, journalist, hotel management faculty or senior student, you cannot ignore this show.
