Says Nick Harvey-Miller, Chairman of the distributing company, "The challenge obviously will be in educating customers and consumers that India is a credible and viable wine producing country but it is a challenge that we are very excited about."
"The variety and quality of Indage Vineyards' wines will appeal to many different customers. We will not be just aiming at the Indian restaurants' market."
The wines come from IHimachal Pradesh have been made by the Australian winemaker Paul Nelson.
Although 120 grape varieties are supposedly being grown there, only five - Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz have been bottled for the UK market under the Indage label.
The wines will sell for between £6.99 and £7.49 and are expected to be competitive with the wine lists or in retail with the Californian and French wines.
