India Wine Challenge kicks off in London

Judges :

1. Catharine Lowe Members of Jury on the second day of tasting

Former deputy editor of Decanter and editor of Wine International Magazine, Catharine has been a panel chairman and super-juror at the International Wine Challenge

2. Keith Isaac MW

Head of Patriarche UK importers, Isaac, a Master of Wine has been a panel chairman and super-juror at the International Wine Challenge

3. Steve Daniel MW

Former chief buyer for Oddbins and winner of a long list of awards as Britain's best wine retailer, Daniel now runs Novum wines (importers of Sula wines) and specialises in supplying wine to restaurants. Daniel has been a panel chairman and super-juror at the International Wine Challenge

4. Sarah Jane Evans MW (did the food)

Master of Wine Evans was wine editor of BBC Good Food Magazine and writes for many publications on the subject

5. Illy Jaffar

Jaffar works for Pernod Ricard, and has a keen knowledge of Asian food and wine. Jaffar has been a regular panel member at the International Wine Challenge

6. Brett Crittenden

Australian born former "Mr Dom Perignon" for LVMH in Asia and executive at Domaine Chandon in Argentina, Crittenden is responsible for creating a major fine wine business from scratch for White Hall in Russia (where he is still a consultant and educator). He now works for Diva International. He has been a panel chairman and super-juror at the International Wine Challenge

7. Cyrus Todiwala MBE

Chef-owner of Cafe Spice Namaste in London and renowned taster of Indian food and wine combinations

8. Bill Rolfe

Former buyer for the Unwins, one of the UK's leading chains of wine stores before becoming a director of United Wineries and recently launching 10 International whose Pink Elephant rose has been launched recently as an accompaniment to spicy food. Rolfe has been a panel chairman and super-juror at the International Wine Challenge

9. Subhash Arora

Arora is the President of Indian Wine Academy, Delhi Wine Club, Editor of delWine and the India Correspondent of Wine Business International magazine. He is a regular at international tastings and has been a judge at Vinitaly and MundusVini.

10. Abhay Kewadkar

Starting his career with Chateau Indage in early 80s, he became the Winemaker for Grover Vineyards when it was founded. Recently, he joined UB group's wine division as its Vice President and Head of the wine unit.

11. Ronnie Lobo

Ronnie is from the F & B industry. He started his love affair with wine when he visited Champagne in 1975 at the invitation of CIVC as student of hotel management in London. Working for the Taj Group of hotels, he introduced Chilean wines in India and organized their complete wine portfolio, working with Joseph Berkmann. He is currently the Vice President of RMW Hotel Management Services Ltd, associates of Carlson Hospitality, USA.

12. Robert Joseph (Chairman)

Acclaimed international wine expert, author, journalist and jurist who initiated the International Wine Challenge in London in 1984, Robert has also been initiators of such Challenges in Japan, Russia, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal, Singapore, Hong Kong etc.
