Over
30,000 global business travellers voted Leela as the
best, based on five parameters: location, service offered,
comfort, food and beverage and facilities available.
The Oberoi, New Delhi, is ranked 18th and is the only
other Indian hotel on the Conde Nast list,
referred by some as the Oscars of the travel industry.
Speaking on this achievement, Leela Ventures chairman
Capt Krishnan Nair said, ''It was my dream to build
a palace in Bangalore ever since I saw the palace in
Mysore. And I'm happy we have set such high standards.''
Several Indian luxury hotels have recently received
top accolades from guests the world over. The Oberoi
Udai Vilas, in Udaipur, was ranked the best hotel in
the world by Travel+Leisure magazine last month.
In May this year, Leela Venture was among the eight
Indian companies on S&P list of world beaters. S&P
had identified 300 mid-size listed companies from 10
sectors and 37 countries that were expected to emerge
as challengers to the world's leading blue-chip companies.
