Hospitality is hot in India and the Minneapolis based Carlson Group is planning to cash in on the boom, reports CNBC-TV18. It is getting ready to introduce their luxury brand The Regent and expand their casual dining restaurants TGIF, reports moneycontrol.com.

Marilyn Carlson Nelson, Chairperson and CEO, Carlson Companies, said, "Regent is one of the romantic beautiful brands of the world and the brand is on cruise lines. We have one contract here. India is overwhelmingly beautiful and we will get 4-5 Regent hotels in India."

Marilyn, rated as the World's 79th most powerful woman of 2005 by Forbes magazine is the eldest daughter of legendry Curt Carlson, the founder of Carlson group. She has been heading one of the largest hospitality companies globally, since 1998. She was in India last week.

She is impressed with the Indian economy and is aiming at making the Carlson Group India's No. 1 in hospitality brands.

Carlson Hotels has signed management and franchisee contracts for three of its brands- Radisson Hotels and Resorts, Country Inns and Suites and Park Plaza . It is now looking at bringing in the super deluxe 7 star Regent brand.

Regent Hotels will be setup first in Delhi and Mumbai followed by Goa and Hyderabad .

It is also developing the Radisson Hotel, in CP, in New Delhi , scheduled to be completed by December 2008. This will bring the number of Carlson hotels currently under development in India to about 15.

The company is also going to double its popular TGIF (Thank God Its Friday) restaurants in India from currently 6 to 12 by next year, taking the total number to 35 in the next three years.

Carlson is in talks with several real estate developers including DLF.
