The hotel and restaurant expansion spree continues in India unabated. Singapore-based Kinara Group of Hotels plans to invest US$100 m. to start hotels and restaurants in India, reports The Hindu.
Managing Director of the group, Raj Patro, who was here yesterday as part of a business delegation led by the Education Minister of Singapore is impressed with the huge potential in India for the hospitality industry with growing global tourism and business opportunities.
Initially, the group has decided to set up standalone restaurants in Bangalore and Hyderabad . Depending on the project viability, the investment in these restaurants could range between $2 million and $5 million.
Mr. Patro said the group would expand the restaurant business in about 8-10 cities, including Mysore , Delhi and Pune.
Besides, the Kinara Group was planning to establish hotels in Class A & B cities. Outskirts of Bangalore , Hyderabad-Secunderabad, Delhi , and cities like Nagpur , Raipur where business activity was now taking off, could be ideal locations for establishing these hotels.
Mr. Patro said these would be a cut above budget hotels but in an affordable range with five-star facilities, each with a capacity of 200 rooms.
