"After all, ducks do swim in water," writes Maureen Kerleau after her return to Paris , sharing her impressions of the April 17 Delhi Wine Club dinner at Ploof, New Delhi . Kerleau was responding, tongue firmly in cheek, to some members questioning the presence of duck on the menu of a seafood restaurant.
She also had a point to make about the service. Delhi can take comfort in the fact that service in Paris is worse. "Arriving back at the Charles de Gaulle Airport," Kerleau writes, "we wanted a quick coffee before hitting the road and had to try three coffee bars at the airport and wait more than ten minutes before any success! Service in France is by far worse than in Delhi ."
Needless to say, Kerleau was all praise for the dinner. Here's what she had to write: "I would like to thank you for organising the dinner at Ploof. I thought the restaurant, the food and the company were excellent and personally I thought the duck was delicious.
"It was a good opportunity for all members to taste such a variety of 'no frills, no glamour' wines, all of which showed up very well for their authentic character and quality. The awareness has to start with people who already know a fair amount about wine to awaken their own curiosity and pass it on to others. "Thanks for everything and now let's get things hopefully one stage farther with the wines actually getting to Delhi ." |
