Wine Delegation from FVG visits Indian Wine Academy:

Delegates from the wine producing regions of Friuli Venezia Giulia visited the office of Indian Wine Academy to learn about the status of Indian wine market, especially for the foreign and Italian wines and the current scenario. They were accompanied by Dott.ssa Cristina Cristofoli , Chief of Gorizia Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Claudio Violino , Councillor for FVG and Mr. Roberto Rigonat , of the Udine Chamber of Commerce.

The delegates from the wineries talked of their products at length. Here is a preview for those who want to import wines from them:

Franco Canciani (Banear): A co-operative producing low end/ value for money wines and bulk wines with 60% exported with US and UK being the biggest importing countries. Contact baneari@baneari.it

Benedetta Terraneo : (Castelvecchio): A well known winery in the mid to high price segment, located in Sagrado, half way between Collio and the sea at a height of 100 meters. Cool winds make it ideal for red wines. Refosco, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Terrano make good red, the last three being the ingredients for the super premium red-Sagrado, made only in the best years. 70% of production is reds. 20% of wines are currently exported. Dott. Giorgio Colutta (Colutta): Producing 50% red and 50% whites, 30% of their wines are exported. They produce mid range priced wines with Ribolla Gialla on the higher end and Picolit being the star wine. North Europe is their current biggest market. They are engaged with Continental Sales Emporium Pvt ltd. for export to India . Contact Colutta@colutta.it

Antonino Volpe (Le Due Torri): Antonino runs the family business in Corno di Rosazzo, a place situated between Venice and Trieste . Within the 8 hectare DOC "Grave del Friuli" vineyards where 15 varieties of wine including the rare Tazzelenghe he runs a restaurant where diners can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine featuring fresh meats, produce and selections which are grown and prepared right on the family farm and enjoy their wines.
