MadridFusion 2007- Delight for chefs and gourmets

Fifth edition of Madrid Fusion opened on January 15th in Madrid. It is a show of shows for  chefs, gourmets and wine connoisseurs alike. Internationally known chefs are invited from all over the world to share their avante guard cooking techniques and new developments in the raw materials and their new uses. Held once a year for the last five years, it attracts professional visitors not only from Spain but also other European countries.

Ferrian Adria, the Spanish master chef who has been awarded the ´most influential chef of the decade´, Chef of the best restaurant in the world´and has won many other accolades is the star of the Show. In Spain, chefs are big celebrities.

Charlie Trotter (Chicago), Dan Barber (New York),Tetsuya Wakuda (Japan), Bin Wang (China), Ricardo Gil (Navarra), Martin Yong (Singapore), Fatema Hal (Morocco), Floren Domezain, the well known rock star of Spain are some of the participants. How much importance is given to freshness of ingredients can be gauged by the fact that Floren is about to open a restaurant,´Temple of Vegetables´where he plans to grow his own vegetables. They will be cut and prepared after the customer has made his selection.

Where there is food, wine is an integral part in Spanish gastronomy. Wines of Spain has organised seminars and tastings of wines from all parts of Spain. Galicia, Aragon, Navarra, Rioja, Andalucia, La Mancha, Valencia, Priorato, Ribera Del Duoro, Toro, Cingales, Castilla y Leon are only some of the regions showcasing their wines. Of course, many producers from these regions are also exhibiting their wines.

Highlight of the Show is showcasing of wines of Spain in the last 25 years.

One day, this event will be attended by many upcoming chefs from India . (For this time, I am the only one from our country of 1.1 billion!) at the Show. This event can also provide a great opportunity for some of our star chefs to showcase Indian fusion cuisine, which is becoming popular very fast in Spain.

Good food is part of an enjoyable lifestyle and culture in Spain. Food Presentation is the other half, an equally important half. A houseful audience of about 2000 persons at each such presentation is an example of how seriously Spaniards value good cooking.

More details about the event will be presented in the next editions. You may also visit www.madridfusion.net for details.
