FACTOID OF THE DAY: China is the leading consumer of wine in Asia in terms of volume, having drunk 390 million litres -- that is, as many as 520 million bottles -- in 2004, according to the International Wine and Spirit Record and Vinexpo. Between 1999 and 2009, consumption of wine in China is forecast to rise by 78%. By 2010, the Chinese are expected to drink at least 570 million litres of wine.
