Processing Co-Op Society Ltd and RR Sales, Delhi, entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the distribution and sales of the locally produced Isabella wine of Mizoram, writes Subhash Arora who believes the road ahead may still be rough ahead but a beginning has been made to promote the wine<\/div><div class=\"articledata\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indianwineacademy.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-08-14-at-09.59.11.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-10365 size-medium\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0px; Processing Co-Op Society, <strong>Francis Lalmalsawma Sailo<\/strong> was present.<\/p><p><strong>Target to sell over two lakh liters of Isabella wine\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p>The Hnahlan winery of Mizoram, which is a unit of Hnahlan Grape Farming &amp; Processing Co-Op Society Ltd, plans to achieve sales of over two lakh liters (over 22000 cases of 9 liters) of <strong>Isabella <\/strong>wine- a rather ambitious target in the first year after exports start.<\/p><p>Isabella grape was developed in the US. The name Isabella was given to the variety in 1816 when it was discovered in Dorchester, South Carolina, by Brooklyn nursery owner<strong>, William Price<\/strong>. He named it in honor of his friend&#8217;s Southern wife, Isabella Gibbs. Both the pro=prohibition and anti prohibition groups are very strong in Mizoram, causing the vacillation in the policy.
