The ubiquitous Two Oceans and Nederberg imported by one of the leading importers- Aspri Spirits and Wines, have been very popular in the low-mid range, says <strong>Arun Kumar<\/strong>, the Director of Aspri. This could be a mistake since South African wines have been popular with Indian drinkers and need to be promoted regularly. South Africa has been an increasingly popular destination for Indian travelers fond of wines and safari parks. We\u2019ve always had world-class researchers, viticulturists, winemakers and wines but today, instead of a handful, we have many, many, many more and we\u2019ve added marketers, wine tourism destinations, educators and so on to the mix.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always exciting to talk about South African wine, but \u2013 to be blunt \u2013 it is an easier sell when your audience is in situ and able to experience what we have to offer surrounded by the Cape\u2019s beauty and by talking to its passionate and talented industry participants. We all know that our ZAR doesn\u2019t stretch very far when it comes to doing business in international markets; WOSA\u2019s strategy here is a sound one and I hope their Sommelier Symposium becomes an annual event and grows each year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Van Zyl, together with the other South African-based Master of Wine, <b>Richard Kershaw MW,<\/b> is putting together a programme for 46 MWs who will be visiting the winelands in November. \u201cI\u2019m very excited about this MW trip,\u201d she said. \u201cI wanted the first big MW trip post-Covid \u2013 in terms of numbers of MWs \u2013 to be to South Africa and its winelands. I wanted to take the high ground, to be the first back to market and, with support from the regional bodies, we\u2019re well on the way to doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wosa.co.za\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #990000;\">Wines of South Africa<\/span><\/a> (WOSA) is a not-for-profit organization which promotes the export of all South African wine in key international markets. Apart from the head office in Stellenbosch, South Africa, it also has offices in Johannesburg, England, Canada, USA, Sweden, China, The Netherlands and Germany. It was very active in India around 15 years ago.
